Abstract

Job satisfaction is one of the most widely studied work attitudes in work and organizational psychology (Judge et al., 2017). The study focuses on understanding the impact of a despotic leadership style on employee job satisfaction, considering the role of self-efficacy as a mediating variable. Research using the PLS-SEM technique to model structural equations by Smart PLS 4.0 software to test the research hypothesis through analysis of primary data collected from a survey of 352 employees in the information & communications technology field in Ho Chi Minh City. Research results show that there exists a relationship between despotic leadership style, self-efficacy, and job satisfaction, the study also identifies self-efficacy as an intermediate variable. In practical terms, the research results contribute to limiting the negative side of despotic leadership style for employees of information & communications technology enterprises.
