Corporate social responsibility, green intellectual capital, and environmental performance: a case of manufacturing firms in Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract

Adapted from current literature, this study develops the model of the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental performance in manufacturing firms with the mediation role of green intellectual capital includes 3 dimensions: green human capital, green structural capital, and green relational capital. The author tested the research hypotheses using a structural equation modeling (SEM), with survey data from respondents who were 395 top managers of manufacturing enterprises in Ho Chi Minh city. Structured questionnaires are designed to collect data using convenience sampling. The empirical studies demonstrated that CSR positively impacts: green human capital, green structural capital, and green relational capital and environmental performance. At the same time, environmental performance is driven by 3 dimensions of green intellectual capital. These results can help managers of firms to strengthen their internal resources like CSR and green intellectual capital to enhance environmental efficiency.
