Abstract

This study is conducted to evaluate the impact of digital transformation on the provinces' economic growth in Vietnam's Southern Key Economic Region. The author used the Difference GMM (DGMM) method of Arellano & Bond (1991) to estimate the models with the panel data of 8 provinces in Vietnam's Southern Key Economic Region from 2009 to 2017. The findings showed that if the readiness index for IT applications and development rises by 1%, the Gross regional domestic product in Vietnam's Southern Key Economic Region would possibly grow by 0.84%. The reason for this rise is the increase in the IT infrastructure indexes and the IT application index in the southern major economic regions. The author proposes policy implications for the process of digital transformation in Vietnam's Southern Key Economic Region based on the research findings.
